Fuel Pump Questions

Took some photos this weekend as I try to figure out why the gas from the right which is clean isn’t getting to the front of the car. The pump on the right (newer looking black one) pumps gas when connected to the left tank – but tank has rusty gas. It does not send fuel to the front of the car from the right tank. Changed the fuel filter which was full of rust and needed to be changed. When I disconnected the fuel line from the pump on the right going to the T – fuel came out – I’m assuming from the line from the other pump.

Anyways – am I right in assuming that there might be a blockage in the fuel pickup line in the right tank?

Also, notice on the left tank the rubber grommet that is partially pushed in and you can see light on the other side. Is that the inside of the tank or outside the trunk area ???

Need that service and parts manual? Does anyone know which of the CD’s that are floating around (like welsh) are the ones that JHT produced?

Need help identifying some items under the bonnet of the XJ6

All,

While looking under the bonnet trying to figure why the engine is having trouble getting started I cam across some odd things. Pictures are show below. Any Ideas:

Rusty gas

Tried starting the car today and discovered rusty gas coming out of the fuel line at the front of the engine.

Should I:

1. Drain the tanks, replace the fuel pumps within and put a
new filter up front?

2. Remove the tanks and rehab?

3. Remove the tanks and put new ones in?

I left a post on jag-lovers.org XK forum – will see what fellow enthusiasts recommend.

A New car joins the stable

Last month I was the winning bidder on a 74 XJ6L on ebay for a grand total of $585. I’ve since picked up the car and brought it back to Florida. The XJ6C is going to the junk yard after I strip all usable and saleable parts off of her. Parts that are in common with the sedan will be kept and Couple specific parts will be sold. At least the new car is complete and isn’t a rust bucket. Pictures later.
